TODDLERS (2 years old): Mandarin Chinese Immersion Preschool for Toddlers

Location: Lake Oswego & SE Portland
Days: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays (SE Portland); Fridays (Lake Oswego)
Times: 10 am - 12 noon (2 hours)
Ages: 2 years old
Program Title: Mandarin Chinese Immersion Preschool for Toddlers
Description: This class is designed for children 2 years old. Class sizes are
kept small. Teachers are native speakers of Mandarin Chinese with good or excellent English.
We keep the classes fun and the children engaged. Children will learn Chinese culture and language,
through coloring, singing and dancing, exercise, group games, story telling, arts and crafts, and other fun
activities -- all in Mandarin Chinese.
A parent or guardian is required to be present.
Registration: Please contact us to set up a time to visit the center, meet the teachers, and
to learn more about what we do. Early registration is strongly encouraged. Classes are filled on a first-register basis.

Preschoolers (Pre-K, Ages 3-5): Mandarin Chinese Immersion Preschool for Pre-K Children

Location: Lake Oswego and SE Portland
Days: Monday through Friday, 3 and 5 days a week
Times: 9:30 am - 12 noon (half day) and 9:30 am - 2 pm (full day)
Ages: 3-5 years old
Program Title: Mandarin Chinese Immersion Preschool for Pre-K Children
Description: This class is designed for children ages 3 to 6. Class sizes are
kept small. Teachers are native speakers of Mandarin Chinese with good or excellent English.
We keep the classes fun and the children engaged. Children will learn Chinese culture and language arts, simple mathematics,
arts and crafts, singing and dancing, group games, story telling and listening skills all in Mandarin Chinese. They will
also learn characters, reading and writing.
(Children must be potty trained.)

Homeschoolers (ages 6-12): Mandarin Chinese Immersion for Home Schooled Children

Location: SE Portland
Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays (1- and 2- days a week)
Times: 9:30 am - 2:30 pm (full day)
Ages: 6-12 years old
Program Title: Mandarin Chinese Immersion School for Home Schooled Children
Description: This class is designed for children ages 6 and older. Class sizes are
kept small. Teachers are native speakers of Mandarin Chinese with good or excellent English.
Homeschooled children learn Mandarin through various methods of
language and culture study, including fun and games, arts and crafts, songs, stories, physical movement and excercise, outside activities.
Children new to Chinese will learn fundamentals of listening and speaking and correct pronunciation. Children
who already possess some Mandarin Chinese will continue to build on what they know.
Chinese characters will be taught, as well as pinyin/bopomofo transliteration system. All that and
we also make learning fun!

Afterschoolers (Ages 6-12): Mandarin Chinese Immersion for After School Children

Location: SE Portland
Term: Winter-Spring, January 19 - June 3, 2010 [No classes March 22-24]
Days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (3 days a week)
Times: 4-6 pm
Ages: 6-12 years old
Program Title: Mandarin Chinese Immersion School for Afterschoolers
Description: This class is designed for children ages 6 and older. Class sizes are
kept small. Teachers are native speakers of Mandarin Chinese with good or excellent English.
Ideally suited for children who go to grade school during the day, with or without Mandarin Chinese instruction.
Children learn Mandarin through various methods of
language and culture study, including fun and games, arts and crafts, songs, stories, physical movement and excercise, outside activities.
In a modified "bushiban" type of format, children will also have the opportunity to do their homework (assigned during the day),
and get assistance on it. For instance, math or Chinese homework.
Children new to Chinese will learn fundamentals of listening and speaking and correct pronunciation. Children
who already possess some Mandarin Chinese will continue to build on what they know.
Chinese characters will be taught, as well as pinyin/bopomofo transliteration system.

Days: Saturdays (1 day a week),
Times: 10-12 noon, and 1-3 pm (call for details)
Ages: 6-12 years old
Program Title: Mandarin Chinese Saturday Classes for Children
Description:
Beginner Class: In the beginner classes, children learn Mandarin through fun and games, songs, stories...
Teachers are native speakers of Chinese.
Children new to Chinese will learn fundamentals of listening and speaking and correct pronunciation. Children
who already possess some Mandarin Chinese will continue to build on what they know.
Some characters will be taught, as well as pinyin and/or bopomofo (transliteration systems). All that and
we also make learning fun!
Non-Beginner Class:
In this class, children continue to build on what they have learned in previous classes.
A textbook is required for this class. Children continue to practice listening and speaking,
and also reading, character recognition/memorization and writing. Pinyin and some bopomofu
transliteration also used. All that and we also make learning fun!
Teachers are native speakers of Chinese. A book is required for this class.
Registration: Please mail or drop off a letter with your name, the name and age of the student,
your address, phone and email address, as well as payment for the class. If paying by check, please make it out

Ages: 3-5 (group A), & 6-12 years old (group B)
Program Title: Happy Chinese Campers, Chinese Immersion Summer Camp for Children
Description:
Children will learn Chinese language arts and songs, dancing, stories, arts and crafts, fun and
games and outdoor activities -- all in Mandarin Chinese. Children will be exposed to
various elements and aspects of Chinese culture.
Children new to Chinese will learn fundamentals of listening and speaking and correct pronunciation;
Children who already know some Chinese will continue to build on what they know.
Older children will also work on character development and recognition.
Register early to ensure a place.
Campers should bring their own lunch, but refreshments are provided.
